Harvey

My heart aches for all of my neighbors in Houston and in the areas along the Texas gulf coast. Two songs reasonated with me greatly-

In a broken world where we cry to feel
Some hope that helps these hearts to heal
You're my strength, You're my refuge
In a broken world, Jesus I'm holding to You

You make sense of the madness
And You make darkness flee
You bring such a calm
To the chaos in me
Show me life
Tell me truth
Day after day I keep running to You

Tensions have been high in the US with so many issues happening all at once. Now we have Harvey's destruction to add to the chaos. I am Daily reminded of the how broken this world is. And you know, I think God doesn't want us to get too comfortable here. He wants us to turn our eyes and our hearts towards heavenly things. The above is a sorta oldie and obscure-y by Across The Sky.

And then there's this one-

If not us, then who
If not me and you
Right now, it's time for us to do something
If not now, then when
Will we see an end
To all this pain
It's not enough to do nothing
It's time for us to do something

Matthew West nailed it. I don't have a lot of resources but have some. I don't have a lot of extra time but I have a little. Once the roads are suitable, we should have a lot of evacuees being bused into the city. Looking into volunteering opportunities today, I was amazed to see so many slots that are filled all the way through next week. People are stepping up to do something and I think I'll finally take that step and join in.

The pictures have been so heartbreaking. Matthew West really did nail it with that song.
