seasons

This weekend is the weekend of my.... wait for it.... 10th year high school reunion. YIKES! It seriously blows my mind to think about it. Their festivities this weekend included and include [no, I won't be participating] going to a pep rally at the school yesterday afternoon, homecoming football game last night, a party tonight and a family picnic at a park tomorrow. Yes, my class of '03 was always very organized, lol.

Not to sound cliche but.... OMW TIME GOES BY SO FAST! If say, I had no clue what the day/month/year it was {like, maybe I was sent to live in a cave for a while? No, let's say an island. Yeah, an island} and you asked me, "So, how long ago was high school?", I would be be like, OH, maybe 5 years ago or so! Time flies when.... you're getting older and growing up. The years haven't always been "fun" but I do like that side benefit of time going by faster. A year used to take FOREVER to end and now, I am so thrilled it's September! It's flown by! Yay!

I think of all my grand ambitions I had as a senior in high school. How I had my life planned to a T! And 10 years later, I am not where I thought I'd be. But you know what? I appreciate the reality of my journey now rather than the journey that I conjured up in my head and wrote on paper.

High school was a season that felt like it would never end. I was so anxious to move onto the next season of life. I'm guilty of that now, even with time flying by! But seasons don't last forever. We're currently in the "endless abyss" between summer and fall and though it seems like the fall chill is taking it's time to come, I can already see little leaves beginning to drop from the trees. It may not seem like anything is happening but even nature knows when a change is coming.

I'll give you a word of wisdom from my high school economics class that I still think about today. Now, I didn't do that well in that class but I can honestly say that I learned a lot about stuff I had no idea about {maybe that's the point of school?}. Anywho, she explained how looking at the current economy is like walking backwards on a road. {Just work with me here.} You're walking facing backwards and you don't feel like you're making much progress but when you look up at the road you've traveled, you see the dips and hills that you've conquered without really realizing it at the time. You know, they say that hindsight is 20/20.

Wow! It's been 28 years for me since graduating from high school. Sometimes it feels like it is looking back on someone else's life.

May each year grant you many blessings.
