my fair weather friend

i run from you whenever

i want to stay up

i wish to fall in

your arms and not be sent home

without a paycheck

i dream of pillows

whenever i'm stuck at work

or drive long road trips

the intense heat saps

my energy and makes me 

wilt like the flowers
